Nowadays everybody actively involved in fb. The advantages mostly those who want to find their old pal ( jejak kasih ). But from my opinion this type of social networking have a lot of disadvantages on security manner especially relate to personal profile. Easy for other people to manipulate our data and give negative implication.
Guys pls give me any comment for the above matter.
Yup, Tuan..That is why, I don't put important details in this "social Network"..Especially about financial..hehe..
ReplyDeletePersonally, that pretty much depend.
ReplyDeleteIf we look at the issue of data security, i don't actually see any confidential information that must be revealed or needed by the site before one could have an account on the social networking site. It all depend on the users' wisdom whether they want to reveal it or not, including pictures (Nowadays, employers will search for your Facebook account & learn something about you from there. So be wise job-seekers).
BTW i only login to my FB account like, twice a month LOL!
What concern me more is from the banking side. (Sorry my banking classmates, but i used to be a banker too LOL!)
Have anyone been called from somebody who is selling insurance saying that he/she was selling it on behalf of your active bank & stick to you like glue up until u reveal your credit card no?
Asked how they got my data & phone no, they said they got it from my active bank. Shouldn't it be confidential?
Actually, i don't really mind. Like you & me, they are just finding their own pot rice but up to a point where they held you in phone for one hour until u agree to buy? That's just ridiculous!
Argh~! Bad memory LOL!
Suria, I like this topic. Annel you were right. It's not the network that revealed the information but it's the user themselves. There are cases where fb users being raped and murdered. They like to share everything and telling people their activities and whereabouts.
ReplyDeleteI think in fb we should choose our friends. Be selective and do not confirm just anybody who invites you to be added to your friend's list. I have confirmed Suria as my friend. What about the others?
But as the conclusion I would say that IT is still very important in this fast changing environment. It depends on how it is used for...
the technology is like a knife. can be used to cut meat, prawn, "paul" the sotong kurita etc and become a delicious tom yam but if the same knife fall into the hand of a bad guy, it can kill people. so, please use IT for good reason. those have children, monitor your kids and of course - yourself coz lots of inappropriate things in the net.
ReplyDeleteWELL FOR ME, I THINK IT DEPENDS ON WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION WE SHARE, THERE IS AN OPTION IN AN THE APPLICATION WHERE CAN BLOCK CERTAIN INFORMATION THAT WE DO NOT WANT TO SHARE WITH OUTSIDERS AND ONLY BE VIEWED BY CERTAIN INDIVIDUAL ON YOUR FRIEND LIST
ReplyDeleteBrother, its an open field out there. Hence, One need to be extra careful not to expose too much info. Yes, as bro Jazuli said, there are always those who like to take advantage. With regard to FB, my own experience to date has been wonderful. Manage to meet friends whom I haven't been in touch with for the past 20 yrs....
ReplyDeletei started my fb account since 2007 after using friendster for quite sometimes. frankly guys, i open my fb almost everyday. but im using it as one of marketing tool to promote jesselton point (my job profile). apart from that, sometimes i like to share great moments with my friends.
ReplyDeleteHello Prof and Classmates...
ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view, there's no harm of FaceBook-ing or having a Facebook account. As mr. annel mentioned it is all depend on us, IT users. The thing now is, Mark Zuckerberg's social networking's interfaces are user friendly and that make us vulnerable.
Statistic shows most of FB users are young generation and they love to share pictures...for being IT savvy..We have to know what to post and not to, or which picture is fine and which is not..like prof. said, ignore friend request that u don't know because u never know 1click might costs u a lot...
personally, i think we have to know the dis-advantages, then we can enjoy the advantages.
The whole idea is either to join or not to join the Facebook.....I agree with ur but it all depends how much that you would like reveal information of yours and etc....Nevertheless FB is an era that really bring all people, friends, pals, colleagues, classmates, schoolmates and etc in one stop place to catch and share oled times..huh...

satu lg disadvantage Facebook ni, its a way for teenagers to communicate related with sex.. parents stay with the kids at home safely, but again, parents do not realize about what actually their kids do in front of the notebook in the bedroom.
ReplyDeleteso now kan, i think parents cannot avoid their kids being exposed by IT BUT pls do check on what they do and view at notebook.

yeah nas...i agree with u. so,parents should be a good monitor for their children especially during surf the internet. also, like prof said be aware and selected when confirm somebody want to be ur friends in ur list.. dont much publish ur routine or moment in ur fb, mcm kata pepatah;'berpada2'...
ReplyDeleteHi....as an adult community not so much to worry about....but highly concern on teenager and students...some of them are so much i tag with their FB lead to neglect on their study.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you BOTS, without proper monitoring from parent student might neglect their study, becuse they're too preoccupied with their FB.
ReplyDeletei agree with annel.as far as i concern there are only few information we have to fill in to have account in facebook.we ourself have to take the prevention step by not revealing much info in our account.
